Consumer sentiment in the United States fell to a six-month low in November, according to data released today.

Figures from the University of Michigan´s index showed that the index dropped to 60.4 so far this month.

This is the lowest level that sentiment has declined to since May, and comes following October´s final reading of 63.8.

Following the report, the survey’s director Joanne Hsu stated that, “While current and expected personal finances both improved modestly this month, the long-run economic outlook slid 12%, in part due to growing concerns about the negative effects of high interest rates.”

Gold prices fell to a 3-week low of $1,933 on the news.
